"The Watchful One"
Ruger is the sheep who makes everyone stop mid-sentence. There's something about him that doesn't fit neatly into "cute" or "dramatic" or "sweet" — it's all of them, all at once, in a face that looks like it was drawn by someone who believed in happy endings. Ruger is the kind of sheep who walks slowly, looks at you like you're the most interesting thing he's seen all day, and then does something completely unexpected. He has his own agenda. It rarely involves food. It usually involves being exactly where the action is.
Origin Story
Ruger arrived at Valais Hideaway after Frodo had already established himself as the farm's emotional anchor. Ruger was different — quieter, more watchful, with a way of paying attention that felt intentional. The owner gave him his name early on, a name that emerged from somewhere instinctive and affectionate, the way certain names just do when you love something enough to give it a word that belongs only to the two of you. Ruger didn't need to be the first or the biggest or the loudest. He just needed to be seen. He found his people. And they found him back.
Personality Traits
Ruger takes everything in. He's the one who notices when someone new arrives, when the weather shifts, when something is off.
Nothing about Ruger is rushed. He moves through the farm like someone who knows exactly how much time he has.
He picks his person and stays close. Not clingy — just present. Reliable. There.
Ruger has opinions he's never shared and plans he hasn't announced. Watch him long enough and he'll remind you.
